Inside: Use these ice cream activities and kindness resources to teach social emotional learning and encourage more kindness to others.
Ice cream is a staple in our house year round, but especially during the warm summer months.
There’s nothing that screams summer more than hearing the ice cream truck music from a few blocks away and running to see if we have enough cash to fill everyone’s sweet tooth.
So while we eat ice cream from the trucks and make our own ice cream and make ice cream crafts, we also use ice cream to learn about kindness and being sweet to others.
And to make it even easier, we use our Ice Cream Activities and Kindness Bundle.

How to Use the Ice Cream Activities in the Kindness Bundle:
1. Purchase and print out the ice cream kindness resources you wish to use. You can use these to connect to a dairy unit or a summer unit.
2. For the Ice Cream Kind or Unkind Sort, print out the ice cream cards and cones in color or in black and white. If you use black and white, color the bees.
Students can sort the ice cream with clip art during centers in a small group or use during your Morning Meeting as a discussion or group game.
3. Follow up with the worksheet so students can show what they know about kind and unkind behaviors.
4. Connect this to writing with one of the two writing sheets that comes with this resource.
5. For the Ice Cream Kind Craft and Write, students can create ice cream kind art with small or large ice creams. They can brainstorm and then write ways to be be kind more often to classmates, friends, teachers, and family members.
6. Then display the ice cream craft and writes in your classroom or hallway and encourage kids to share what their writing says to connect to listening and speaking skills.
7. Use the Ice Cream Kindness Challenge to encourage kids to be more kind more often with less reminders. Every time they’re kind, they can color in an ice cream cone or cross off an ice cream cone if you used the color version. When they get to the end of the sheet, they can earn an ice cream, an ice cream sundae for dessert, or an ice cream party for the class.
8. Print out the ice cream kindness coloring pages for early finishers or for indoor rainy days or just for fun with a sweet message.
