Inside: Use this Halloween Emergent Reader to focus on and spread kindness this Halloween.

The day after July 4th, my kids asked me, what holiday is next?

And even though it was super far away, they’re already counting down to Halloween. And whether you’re close to Halloween or super far away from picking out costumes, everyone is still excited about pumpkins, bats, and witches.

Since kids are excited for Halloween, it’s the perfect way to connect to other learning skills: reading, writing, and social emotional learning.

This Halloween Kindness Emergent Reader is a great way to showcase all the ways to be kind and generous and helpful and compassionate during Halloween as kids practice their sight word and cvc reading.

Even witches and vampires and mummies can be kind in this Halloween Kindness emergent reader.

Other Ways to Celebrate Halloween and Kindness with Kids

We love celebrating Halloween and sneaking in some kindness at the same time.

We use these Halloween Kindness Role Playing Cards to practice how to be kind to others on Halloween.

These Halloween Kindness Role Playing Cards are perfect for intentionally teaching kids how to be kind and then giving them fun, hands on ways to practice that kindness.

We make these Halloween Handprint Crafts and then donate them to local nursing and retirement homes.

We sort kind and unkind actions on these Pumpkin Kind or Unkind Sort

And we practice kindness by passing out these Halloween Compliment Cards.

And we read these Halloween Kindness books:

The Magic of Kindness

Zadie and the Witch’s Tea
