Inside: Use these Winter Kindness Notes to spread kindness to neighbors and friends this winter. It’s a perfect way to connect during the winter weather and make sure neighbors have what they need.
Last winter was a brutal one for us.
The weather wasn’t so terrible, although it was our first real winter with snowstorms and feet and feet of snow.
I think it was extra isolating because we were all living through a pandemic, staying socially distant, and not getting together for parties or playdates.
Many, many people spent the winter months stuck inside because outside was too cold and indoors anywhere but home felt unsafe.
So we had to go out of our way to connect with others and help our neighbors who needed the extra help.
When my husband pulled out our snowblower and finished our driveway and sidewalk, he kept on going around the whole culdesac to clear it for others. (And then later after more snow hit, our friends did the same).
We checked in with neighbors when we headed to the store to see if they needed us to grab them milk or eggs or toilet paper.
And we made sure they knew we were thinking of them, missed them and still wanted to connect with them…even if we couldn’t be there in person.
One simple way we can do that again this winter is with our Winter Kindness Notes that are perfect for kids to pass out to neighbors and friends to spread a little kindness, a little connection, and a little help.
Ways to Spread Kindness During Winter

Because being kind takes practice before it can become a habit for our kids.
Winter is a great time to help our kids spread kindness to those around them. They can use these winter drawing prompts and gift their drawings to elderly neighbors who could use a bit of cheer.

How to Use the Winter Kindness Notes
1. Print out the You’re SNOW Kind Winter Kindness Notes on cardstock (download them below).
2. Cut out the cards so they’re ready to use.
3. You can write your name on each of the cards or choose to remain anonymous so the notes are more of a random act of kindness.
4. For the hot cocoa notecard, tape a hot cocoa packet to the note before delivering. If there’s more than one child at the house, make sure to include the right number of hot cocoa packets.
5. The card asking neighbors if they need help is perfect for anyone living alone, single parents, parents with a newborn baby, or elderly neighbors. Add your phone number to it and deliver it to someone who would most likely need your help this winter.
6. The snowman “award” cards and the thank you for shoveling cards are perfect to take with you if you go on a winter walk and you can slip them into someone’s mailbox.
