Inside: These kindness keychains are the perfect friendship craft for kids to make and then give away to their friends as a kindness activity kids can make.
On our street, we had this great kid who lived next door. She was super friendly, super kind, and included everyone. She knocked on doors of kindergarteners, my third grader, my fifth grader, and even came by once to hang out with my 8th grader.
She rollerbladed and rode bikes and ran through sprinklers in the yard with my kids.
But then we got news that she was moving out of state.
And my kids were devastated.
So as they were having one last sleepover, and one last rollerblade ride, and one last bike ride, she and my daughter also got to crafting.
They made each other these friendship keychains they could hang up or hang onto their backpacks so they could remember each other.
And you don’t need to wait for a friend to move away to make these kindness keychains.
They’re fun, easy, and are simple gifts kids can make for their friends.
Why we’re raising our kids to be kind and to be good friends
We’re raising our kids to be kind.
And in order to be kind themselves, our kids need to surround themselves with other kind kids.
Friendships are crucial to our kids’ overall mental health. It helps them build confidence, makes them feel welcomed and included, and gives them a social buffer that will bully-proof them.
But there’s a difference between a good, true friend and an okay friend.
